once you access the Web and att.net, you will need to sign in to
access your e-mail, see your personalized home page, and be able
to access certain features and personal settings. So you will need
to know your Member ID (e-mail address) and password. Please

The
att.net Home Page
What is the new home page and where will it be located?
Your new home page will be att.net and it
will be located at http://www.att.net.
This page has been redesigned with a new look and enhancements to
content and features for a better Internet experience. If you currently
use another page as your home page, depending upon the type of service
you have, you will either be automatically redirected or you may
need to update your browser home page and bookmarks.
How
is “att.net” different from the home page I’m
using today?
The
new home page will provide enhanced functionality and capabilities—
delivering a more customized site experience. One of the great advantages
to the new att.net is that you’ll be able to customize your
homepage with the information and content you want to see —
from movie listings, to weather, to stock updates and more. Other
enhancements include:
- Improved
navigation with content organized into simple, easy-to-use sections.
- A communications
area devoted to features like E-mail, Instant Messaging and Chat,
and e-Greetings.
- Channel
links for quick and easy access to information and tools on a
variety of topics like Shopping, Business, Entertainment, Careers,
Games, Health, Home & Garden, etc.
What type of content categories will be available on the home page?
With
the att.net home page, you’ll get great content from top providers
in categories such as News, Business, Lifestyle, Shopping, Real
Estate, Home & Garden, and more. These content categories are
located in prominent sections throughout the home page, as well
as organized into a convenient alphabetical listing of Channel links
on the left hand side of the page for easy access.
Is there a demo or site overview that I
can use to become more familiar with the site?
Yes, an online tour of the new att.net home page is available at
http://www.att.net/features/audiotour/.
It illustrates how to log in and how to access certain features
and tools. It also provides an overview of how the page is organized
and how to navigate and personalize the site.

E-mail
and Communication Tools
Are there any changes to my e-mail?
With the change to the new home page, we will also be upgrading
to a new e-mail system. If you use Webmail to access your e-mail,
you’ll be getting some great new features and enhanced capabilities
including:
- Easy
navigation for quicker access to functions and settings
- ‘Drag
and drop’ functionality to easily organize your
e-mail messages
- A
preview pane to view emails without having to open them
- Anti-phishing
features to warn you of potentially fraudulent e-mail
messages and scam
And more!
Note:
If you use another e-mail client like
Microsoft Outlook to access your e-mail
you will have the same features and capabilities as you have now.
What are the specific changes to my e-mail?
If you use Webmail, there are some changes to your e-mail which we
hope you will find useful. In addition to the changes listed above,
there will be minor changes like updates to labeling – for
instance, “Screened Mail” will change to “MailGuard”
– as well as more significant changes, including:
- An increase in storage for your e-mail from 10 MB to 500
MB per e-mail ID
- Direct access to some of your e-mail preferences from e-mail.
- Customization features are being added for advanced filtering of
your mail messages. So you'll now have the flexibility to create
an "allow list" and also specify e-mail addresses to
block.
In an effort to continually improve your internet experience there
are more enhancements coming in the near future such as lengthening
message retention time from 30 to 90 days and providing e-mail alerts
on the new homepage.
Are there any changes to my e-mail
address(es)?
No,
there are no changes. You'll continue to use the same e-mail address(es).
How do I access my e-mail?
You
can access your e-mail via the AT&T Webmail application or through
another e-mail client on your computer like Microsoft Outlook.
- If
you wish to access your e-mail via Webmail, simply
click on the e-mail icon in the upper right section of the att.net
home page. If you are not currently signed in to the site, you
will be prompted to sign in at that point.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
During
the change to the new Webmail system, you will experience a
slight delay in your ability to access Webmail while
the new system retrieves messages from your old e-mail and imports
them into your new e-mail. When you log in to your new Webmail
the first time, you will see a message that your log-in attempt
has failed. This first attempt signals to the new Webmail that
it must retrieve your messages from your old Webmail system. This
one-time retrieval will take up to 5 minutes in most cases, so
please wait at least 5 minutes and then log in again.
- If
you access your e-mail through another e-mail client like Microsoft
Outlook, you will still access your e-mail the
way you do today. However, during the change to the new e-mail
system, you will experience a slight delay in your ability
to access your e-mail while the new system retrieves
messages from the old e-mail system. On your first attempt to
access your e-mail during the change-over, you will see a message
that your log-in attempt has failed. Please wait at least
5 minutes while the new system retrieves your e-mail and then
log in again.
I currently use Microsoft Outlook
to access my e-mail. Will my experience change?
No,
if you use an e-mail client like Microsoft Outlook to access your
e-mail, your experience will not change and you can continue to
access your e-mail as you do now.
However, please note that during the change to the new e-mail system,
you will experience a slight delay in your ability to access
your e-mail while the new system retrieves messages from
the old e-mail system. On your first attempt to access your e-mail
during the change-over, you will see a message that your log-in
attempt has failed. Please wait at least 5 minutes while
the new system retrieves your e-mail and then log in again.
Will my settings, filters, and address book be moved to the new e-mail?
In
most instances, these types of settings will be moved to your new
e-mail, although some may have limitations that you should be aware
of, and there will be exceptions. We recommend that you
write down or make note of any personal settings.
- Filters:
Your filters will NOT be moved from
MailLink to the new AT&T Webmail so you will need to re-create
these. You may want to make note of them now.
- Address
Book: Your address book will be moved
along with your e-mail, but some entries that exceed the maximum
character or field limits may be truncated. We will provide a
link to your old MailLink application for 90 days so that you
can go back and retrieve any information. During
the system upgrade process you will not be able to update your
address book and user preferences, however you will still be able
to view them. The system upgrade process will take about 24 hours.
- Personal
Folders: The
messages in your personal folders will be carried over to the
new email inbox, but the folders themselves will not. You will
need to re-create any personal folders and re-organize your messages
in the new email.
- E-mail
Forwarding: There is a limit of 20 addresses
to which messages can be forwarded. Addresses beyond
the 20th will no longer receive forwarded messages once your account
is moved to the new system. (If you wish to send mail to more
than 20 addresses, you can use your Address Book feature to create
a mailing list after your account has been moved to the new system.)
Is there anything I need to do or know prior to
the change in my e-mail?
There
are a couple of important things you should know or do prior to
the change in your e-mail:
- Logging
In to E-mail: Whether you use AT&T Webmail or another
client such as Microsoft Outlook, during the change to the new
e-mail system, you will experience a slight delay in your
ability to access your e-mail while the new system retrieves
messages from your old e-mail and imports them into your new e-mail.
When you attempt to access your e-mail for the first time after
the change, you will see a message that your log-in attempt has
failed. This first attempt signals to the new system that it must
retrieve your messages from the old e-mail system. This one-time
retrieval will take up to 5 minutes in most cases, so please
wait at least 5 minutes and then log in or access your e-mail
again.
- Filters:
Your filters will NOT be moved
from MailLink to the new AT&T Webmail so you will need
to re-create these so you may want to make note of them now.
- Personal
Folders: The messages in your personal folders will be
carried over to the new email inbox, but the folders themselves
will not. You will need to re-create any personal folders and
re-organize your messages in the new email.
